The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched the Cyber and Emerging Technologies Unit (CETU) to combat cyber-related misconduct and protect retail investors in the emerging technologies space.
The CETU will be led by Laura D’Allaird and made up of 30 fraud specialists and attorneys. It replaces the SEC’s previous Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit.
Amongst other things, it will focus on:
- Compliance with cybersecurity rules and regulations
- Fraudulent disclosures relating to cybersecurity
