New Zealand FMA approves Scope 3 assurance relief for 2025

The New Zealand Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has approved an exemption, allowing companies subject to mandatory climate disclosures not to obtain external assurance on their Scope 3 GHG emissions data for accounting periods ending 31 December 2024 through to 30 November 2025

The FMA exemption aims to align with the optional relief approved by the External Reporting Board (XRB) last year.

Companies using this exemption are required to notify the Registrar of that fact at the same time they file their climate statements.
